Shaefer Anson Call

Well - he is already showing us who is boss! :)

Shaefer Anson Call's Stats:
Born April 27th at 10:34 am (2 1/2 weeks early)
5 lbs. 4 oz. (tiny)
17 inches long
As strong as ever!!

Here are a few pictures of our new little family and of the new Daddy!

I had been having contractions every 8-10 minutes on Sunday but didn't think that anything was happening. On Monday morning - I was getting ready for school...and started to get really worried because I hadn't felt him move in awahile, when he usually is really active. I called the hospital and they told me I needed to come in a put him on the monitor. I started getting really nervous but we came to the hospital. They instantly found his heart rate but as soon as I had a contraction - it dropped from 150 to 50. They told me right then that I would be staying at the hospital and having a baby! They continued to monitor his heart and it dropped a few more times. They decided to brake my water and when they did his heart rate dropped again - so I was wheeled away into an emergency c-section. We got to the hospital at 8:30 and by 10:30 Shaefer was already here! It all happened so fast - and poor Anson couldn't even come into the room because I had to be put to sleep because Shaefer wouldn't handle it any other way. Finally at about 2:00 in the afternoon we were together as a family in my room. Come to find out - my placenta was not giving him the nutrients he needed so that is why he is so small and the cord was wrapped around his neck. We are so lucky that he was born healthy and that we came to the hospital when we did! He is super strong and has only been on an I-V because he didn't want to eat.

He is perfect and we love him so much!

Yay for happy things!

Some happy things happening at our house lately:

1) Anson finished another semester!!! He did an amazing job this semester and worked so hard!! I felt a little bad when he was studying and stressing over finals but a little happy because I didn't have to do them! :) I am so proud of him!

2) Anson was invited back to take the 2nd Seminary Pre-Service Teaching class. They only invite a certain percentage back each semester and it is pretty competitive! He is an incredible teacher and wishes he could teach at the MTC forever - seminary teaching seems to be a better option! :) Once again - what an amazing husband I have!

3) We are not counting months waiting for this baby to com anymore we are at weeks or maybe even days! At my last appointment I was dialated to a 1 and 80% effaced so maybe he will come early! I am not holding my breath because I am pretty sure my sub plans are not done yet. If I didn't have so much to do still for school, I would be begging him to come soon!

4) After a long week of teaching and being on my feet - my friend Tammy and I went and got pedicures! It was nice to have a relaxing evening and get pampered! It gave Anson a break too because ususally he is recruited to paint my toes - as I can't reach them very well anymore! I decided to go pink for 2 reasons - summer and that soon my home is going to be infested with boys and I need to have some girl around! The lady even did these adorable flowers and put a little blue jewel and blue accents on them - just because I am having a boy! It really was fun!

Cute toes make swollen feet look so much better! :)

5)More of Shaefer's room is getting clean (and yes to all those who have been wondering - that is the name that we are planning on naming the baby - as long as he comes out a he!) Last night we decided it might be a good idea to pull out the pack and play and put it together! My amazing sister and her family gave it to us for christmas and we are soooooo grateful for it! It is so cute with the jungle animals!

There is a joke in my family about "hippo kisses" that I started teaching the neices when they were little. Basically you chomp at them and they laugh and it is really funny! Anyway it is very fitting that these little hanging toys are hippos!

Tender Mercies

I am really humbled at how well our Heavenly Father knows us, and how he answers our pleads for help. Today was just one of THOSE days - it seems like there is never enough time to do those things that you NEED to do and yet more things just seem to get added on top of those. I was feeling so overwhelmed and poor Anson (after a long day himself) had to listen to me complain. Thank goodness I have an INCREDIBLE husband who just happens to do the dishes and cook dinner even before he knew I was having a hard day! I barely got to see him before he left for work - and I decided before I was going to tackle the to-do list I would check the blog! Who knew that blogger would be the way I would find comfort - but thank you so much Lindsey Bauman for being inspired and for sharing this video.

No all the things on the list didn't go away - but I felt an overwhelming feeling that my Heavenly Father is mindful of me and that it can all be done and it will all get done. The first quote really was for me - "Embrace this day with an enthusiastic welcome, no matter how it looks. The covenant with God to which you are true enables you to become enlightened by him, and nothing is impossible for you." I really am grateful for the knowledge I have that I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father and that he DOES in fact love me and know me! I hope that this brightens someone elses day as much as it did mine!

Shaefer needs to clean his room!!

So every day I tell Anson that Shaefer needs to clean his room......

unfortunately I don't think it is going to get done anytime soon if I rely on him! He just needs to uphold his end of the bargain and not come early so I can get everything done!

So even though the baby room looks like that- I have finished quite a bit!
The bumper pads for the crib are done...

The dresser is cleaned out and has new handles...

and the quilt is finished (thank you Debbie Breese for the beautiful quilting job) and it is bound and ready to use!

It is amazing how quickly time is passing - but day by day we get a little more ready! Thank goodness this week is my spring break so I can have more time to get some things done!
